As a Medical Records Clerk with Golden LivingCenters, your efforts will ensure that we are able to care for our residents and maintain exceptional relationships with our care partners. You will create, maintain, retrieve and be accountable for the medical records of our residents and patients, using your keen attention to detail as you gather, input and verify critical patient information. When a care partner requires information, the Medical Records Clerk ensures the correct details are shared in a timely and confidential manner. Experience in this type of work is vital, but it is only the beginning. The right candidate will also be passionate about our mission, knowing that their efforts help to ensure the highest level of care for our patients every day.


Responsible for maintaining the medical records according to established standards and policy as well as with state and federal regulations


  • Maintain all medical records in designated area in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Prepare admission packets and establish medical files
  • Maintains open charts by filing all clinical documentation daily as it is received
  • Monitor and audit records for completeness and accuracy at assigned intervals
  • Process, transfer and discharge records and maintain appropriate records on discharged residents including preparation of bereavement file, if applicable
  • Prepare reports as directed and inform center or agency leadership of any deficiencies in documentation


Must adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy including documentation and reporting responsibilities


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • At least one year previous clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance


  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels
  • Must possess computer skills of the types and at a level necessary to accomplish the job


Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting (minimum of 10 pounds), fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to travel, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
